First of all let us introduce the term generic drugs to you. Generic drugs are the non-proprietary drugs. These drugs do not hold any patent or in some cases their patents have expired. Whenever a company produces a drug, it gets patent for reserves its exclusive rights to manufacture and sell the drug with a certain brand name. When the patent expires, other companies also get the approval by FDA to manufacture that drug if no further patent is filed. So, basically a generic drug is similar to its branded version.

Yes, absolutely. Generic Drugs are approved by FDA and are perfectly safe to use. Generic drugs have exactly the same composition, functional stability, purity, and quality as their branded counter parts. Generic drugs can be used for longer or shorter periods of time as prescribed by your medical advisor.
Why Generic Drugs are less expensive?
Since many companies start manufacturing the drug, so a competition is deveopled among them. The companies sell the drugs at lesser costs to beat the competition and increase their consumership.

Kroger’s generic prescription plan offers a 90 day supply for $10.00. My prescription had always been written for 90 days by my physician but my drug prescription card would only allow it to be filled for 30 days at a time.
